A beautiful variegated yarn in natural Shetland colours, drum carded and then hand spun (short draw), on an Ashford traveller wheel by Steph. This is a gorgeously soft and cosy yarn that would be suitable for wearing next to your skin, it is spun from the organically certified fleece of ‘Grayson’ a 1/4 Boreray and 3/4 Shetland wether. Grayson is an integral part of the flock, a big sturdy, gentle lad, companion to our bell wether (leader of the flock) ‘Elvis’, he grows a great fleece every year, variegated grey with medium crimp and staple length, extra soft because of his Boreray heritage from Granddad ‘Eric’ our first ram. Boreray sheep can have extremely soft wool under a hairy outer coat and this softness (without the hair fibres) has been passed down to Grayson through his mum Gloria. The ‘Moss Witch Green’ coloured yarn is dyed by Romilly using our own home grown Woad and Weld.
